Artistry

My grandmother always said God must love blue and green because he made so much of it.  I think God likes bold pops of color.  I imagine the creator as an artist flinging paint on a blank canvas, making every shade and shadow become vivid. And well, just imagine, if the Creator had not made us the way we are, we wouldn’t be able to see those colors at all.

I agree with the sentiment from the Anne of Green Gables novel, “I am so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” For a week or so, I stopped paying attention and suddenly it is autumn, the leaves an explosion of color. While I do not always welcome the chill of fall, there is nothing better than seeing the fog settle across those hilly fields, calves frolicking in the mist, leaves ablaze in the sunrise.   Every opportunity to drive down Swope Lane is a gift.  This stretch of road lined with the perfect red, orange, and yellow trees might just be where the Creator at last sat back and said, “Rockbridge County is finished and it is oh so good.”

I encourage all of us to pay attention this week.  In the rush between appointments, work, child-rearing, and chores…pause and admire God’s artistry.
