In 1995, Dolly Parton launched an effort to benefit the children of her home county in East Tennessee. Dolly wanted to inspire a love of reading in children and ensure that every child could have books regardless of their family’s income. The program began replication at the national level in 2000 and has since expanded to Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Today, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends more than 2 million books per month to children around the world. New Providence is honored to be an affiliate of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to bring books to the children in our community and inspire a new generation of readers!

As of September 2026 we have 883 children currently being served in Rockbridge County and the cities of Lexington and Buena Vista! We have also had 220 children graduate from the program. We have gifted over 6,000 books!
